The Women’s Society Receives Honourable Mention at Townsville Australia Day Awards

The Women’s Society was honoured to receive an honourable mention from Premier David Crisafulli and Governor of Queensland at the Townsville Australia Day Awards, recognising the organisation’s growing impact in bringing women together and reducing social isolation across the region.

Founded with the goal of creating meaningful spaces for women to connect, The Women’s Society has grown into one of Townsville’s most active grassroots community groups.

Since launching, the organisation has hosted more than 150 events, welcoming thousands of women to participate in activities ranging from wellness gatherings and creative workshops to hikes, networking events and community conversations.

The Australia Day Awards celebrate individuals and organisations that make a significant contribution to the local community, and this recognition highlights the collective effort of the volunteers, members and supporters who make The Women’s Society possible.

Founder Jade Nelson said the honour belongs to the entire community behind the organisation.

"This recognition reflects the incredible women who show up, support one another and help create a sense of belonging for others in our community."

The Women’s Society remains committed to continuing its work across North Queensland, creating safe spaces where women can build friendships, share experiences and access support.
